Anne Anderson (Illus) Aucassin And Nicolete, 1911:  Anne Anderson First Edition First Issue. Aucassin and Nicolette. Child, Harold (transl. & ed.) : London Adam & Charles Black, 1911. A tale of two lovers from the 2nd half of the 12thC, unknown to English readers until Walter Pater first published his "Renaissance". Six lovely colour plates by Anne Anderson, complete with tissue guards. Hardbound, 10" x 8" in cream cloth with a very ornate blue and brown decoration to front board and spine. Corners bumped and spine darkening. Edges a bit chipped/nicked. Darkening and occasional foxing to some pages, a couple of page edges chipped. Rear board with marks. 132 numbered pages. On each the text block is surrounded by a decorative border, grey for the introduction and gilt for the tale. Top edge gilt. A bit grubby/rubbed but still an attractive copy of this Anne Anderson First edition First issue.
